University of St. Augustine's Post Professional OTD Capstone
Developed a course that is designed to increase OTPs’ knowledge of climate change and the occupations that are harming and helping the planet. Gramling used the Model of Human Occupation and the Canadian Model of Occupational Participation as the foundation of this course to make it as person focused and land focused. Gramling promotes the advocacy for OTPs against climate change for a happier and healthier life.

Call for Student Interns (starting April 1st, 2026)
Occupational Therapists for Environmental Action (OTEA) is seeking passionate and driven Occupational Therapy (OT) and Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) students to join our team as interns for the upcoming year. This is a unique opportunity to explore the vital intersection of environmental sustainability, climate change, and human health within the scope of occupational therapy.
We are looking for students who are ready to advocate for a sustainable future and contribute to meaningful projects that impact our profession and our planet.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements
Eligibility:
Must be currently enrolled in an ACOTE-accredited OT or OTA program.
Must be in good academic standing.
Core Competencies:
Passion for Sustainability: A demonstrated interest in environmental health, climate justice, or sustainable healthcare practices.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience with social media or professional writing is a plus.
Self-Starter: Ability to work independently in a remote/virtual environment and meet project deadlines.
Collaborative Spirit: Willingness to work with a diverse team of clinicians, educators, and advocates.
Technical Skills (Preferred):
Familiarity with digital collaboration tools (e.g., Zoom, Canva).
Experience reviewing or summarizing evidence-based literature.
Proposed Timeline (Spring/Summer 2026)
January 23, 2026: Applications Open.
March 1, 2026: Application Deadline (11:59 PM EST).
March 2 – March 13, 2026: Application Reviewal Period.
March 20, 2026: Internship Offers Extended.
April 1, 2026: Internship Start Date / Onboarding Week.
April, 2027: Internship Conclusion.
